Artfully Facing Trauma
Artfully Facing Trauma is a traveling exhibit of artwork created by veterans who participated in the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) art therapy directive of mask-making. This intervention allows individuals to use design and symbolism to express their inner experience of trauma as well as the face they intend to convey to the outside world.
Stephanie is the Senior Art Therapist at the Road Home Program and the Curator of Artfully Facing Trauma, an exhibit that explores the internal and external realities of PTSD trauma in IOP participants.
The College of DuPage recently hosted Artfully Facing Trauma. Sheri Gross, Manager of Veteran Services at CoD, offers her observations of the importance of this exhibit to both the military and civilian communities at CoD.
