Road Home Program’s Video Visit (telemedicine) was originally developed to provide face-to-face video therapy for service members, rural veterans, housebound veterans and veterans with limited mobility. Video visits allow you access to our ongoing mental health programs and ensure that we can continue to provide the best and safest care to our veterans, service members and families. (Available in Illinois and Indiana only. If you live outside of those two states, we may still be able to provide care or services in one of our other programs. Video visits enable you to talk directly with your care team. You can use any computer, tablet or smartphone. But first you will need to sign up for a My Rush account. Call (312) 942-8387 (VETS) for more information or to set up an appointment.

Frequently Asked Questions About A Video Visit At Road Home

Video visits allow you to connect with a Road Home clinician through laptop or telephone. You will receive the same customized, high-quality treatment that you would receive during an in-person session. Think of video visits as a secure and HIPAA-compliant tool that allows you to speak safely and confidentially with your care team from the safety and convenience of your home or other private location.

Both current and new patients are eligible for virtual care at Road Home. Call (312) 942-8387 (VETS) or fill out the Get Care form to make an appointment. Please note that you must be in the state of Illinois at the time of your video visit.

If you are new to The Road Home Program, you can schedule a video visit after a brief interview with one of our clinicians. If a video visit is appropriate, you will receive an e-mail with an activation code to set up a My Rush account. You must activate this My Rush account prior to beginning your video visit.

Virtual Outpatient Program (available to those living in Illinois and Indiana only)

Virtual outpatient care at the Road Home Program consists of weekly video visits. Treatment focuses on immediate symptom reduction, long-term mental health recovery and permanent lifestyle changes for veterans, service members and their families. Length of treatment may be up to 6 months and participants have the option to engage in individual, group therapy, couples and family therapy. Individual therapy sessions can occur 1-3 per week. Veterans, service members and families leave with the tools and skills needed to move forward and build healthy, productive relationships and lives.

SETTING UP YOUR VIDEO VISIT

Video visits can be conducted on a smartphone, tablet, laptop or any computer that has a camera and microphone installed. Once you have your virtual care plan from your Road Home care team, you will receive an invitation on your My Rush account that includes the day, time and link to your visit. Your care team can assist you with any technical questions.

Select a quiet, well-lit room for your video visit.
Open a high-speed internet browser, we recommend Microsoft Edge for PC and Safari for Mac.
Log in to My Rush. Click on appointments to find your video visit invitation.
Click Begin Visit up to 10 minutes prior to your appointment if you choose to test your device’s connection.
When your clinician appears on your screen, your video visit has begun.

Select a quiet, well-lit room for your video visit. Set up a video stand if available.
Download the mobile My Rush app, available on the Apple App Store as well as the Google Play store.
Open the mobile My Rush app. Click on appointments to find your video visit invitation.
You will see a green Test Video button. You can select this prior to your appointment to test your device’s connection.
Click Begin Visit to connect to your clinician.
When your clinician appears on your screen, your video visit has begun.
